WOOD FURNITURE - COMMON SENSE CARE
As a natural product, wood reacts to changes in the environment. Our decorative finishes seal the wood and help to lessen the impact of changes in humidity, heat and sunlight. Overall, wood products are very durable and by using these common sense tips, your furniture will retain its beauty for many years.
1).Whenever possible, maintain a consistent temperature range in your home or office, as this will minimize the swelling or shrinking of your furniture. Also try to place your pieces away from sources of extreme change in heat and humidity, like windows, fireplaces and air conditioning/heating outlets. If your furniture is placed near windows or glass doors, attempt to draw your curtains or blinds during peak sunlight hours. Prolonged exposure to sunlight (which contains ultra-violet rays) can cause fading or bleaching effect on wood products.
2). Dusting is an important part of furniture maintenance. As you know, our air carries dust, pollen and other pollutants which can settle on exposed wood. Over time these pollutants can accumulate and lead to discoloration and possible scratching of decorative finishes. Paul Robert recommends professional quality wood cleaners and polishes such as Guardian and Guardsman products for your maintenance routine.
3).Always remove liquids from wood surfaces as quickly as possible. Prolonged exposure to liquids can cause discoloration to the finish and may cause damage to decorative veneers: this is especially true of alcohol, perfume and other high acid/ alkali content liquids.
4).The tips from above also apply to leather top tables. Always blot spills as rapidly as possible when entertaining try to use table cloths, trivets and coasters as extra layers of protection.
FABRIC UPHOLSTERY - COMMON SENSE CARE
At Paul Robert we offer a multitude of fabrics which allow you to create a look that is all your own. We cater to the wishes of today’s consumer by offering fabrics ranging from ultra durable to decorative and delicate. The following tips are provided to assist you in maintaining your furniture’s beauty for years.
1).Light vacuuming is recommended on a periodic basis. Regular vacuuming will prevent an accumulation of dust and pollutants from setting in to your fabric and causing discoloration. Remember to vacuum all sides of cushions and pillows.
2).Whether in your home or in an office, consider furniture placement carefully. Avoid direct sunlight whenever possible, as Ultra-Violet rays can cause discoloration or fading in fabric.
3).Remember to fluff and flip your cushions and pillows on a regular basis. This re-arranging of cushions will reduce wear and the setting effect which can result from always sitting in your favorite spot.
4).As there are many types of fabrics available, so too are there several recommended cleaning methods for upholstery. These different types of Fabrics are assigned cleaning codes. The codes are assigned these letter/letters combinations W, WS/SW, S and Code X. To learn specifics regarding the codes and their meanings please click on the following link. (Requires Adobe Acrobat)

Paul Robert leather products are designed and built to provide outstanding comfort for many years. By following these easy care tips, your leather furniture will acquire character and retain its beauty for just as many years.
1).As with wood furniture, dusting is an important part of your maintenance schedule. Regular dusting or light vacuuming prevents a build up of air borne pollutants on the leather. Keeping the leather surfaces clean will allow the hides to breathe and become softer and suppler over time.
2).Exposure to sunlight should be limited whenever possible. During peak hours of sunlight be sure to draw curtains and blinds. Other sources of extreme heat like fireplaces or radiators can have a drying effect on leather furniture. Special conditioners designed specifically for different types of leather are available as treatment.
